The Art of Japanese Ceramics

Japanese ceramics encompasses a rich tradition spanning over 10,000 years, from ancient Jōmon pottery to refined tea ceremony wares. Each region of Japan has developed distinctive styles, clay bodies, and firing techniques that reflect local materials and aesthetic sensibilities. Mizukawa brings expertise in wheel-throwing, hand-building, glazing, and kiln-firing to their practice.

Research Member

As a Research Member of the Japan Kōgei Association, Mizukawa is actively developing their skills in traditional craft techniques under the guidance of master artisans. This membership recognizes emerging artists committed to learning and preserving Japan's traditional craft heritage.
